CREATION OF RESILIENT PUERTO RICO ADVISORY COMMISSION (RPRAC)
The Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Open Society Foundation came together in 2017 to support a locally-led effort that defines pathways towards the recovery and rebuilding of Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria and other disasters.

Includes 24 leaders and experts in and on Puerto Rico, acting as Commissioners. They are to serve as Ambassadors of the Commission and serve as members of sectoral Working Groups if s/he has technical expertise in a Working Group topic area. Initial meeting to present Commission vision, mission, and plan.
YOUTH PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY LAUNCH
February 5-9, 2018
The Commission will be collaborating with six schools, one from each of the 6 designated regions. 60 students, ranging from primary to high school, from each school will be given digital cameras so that they may take photos, over the course of two weeks, that frame issues or experiences in their community.
WORKING GROUPS MEETING #1 (ID OPPORTUNITIES)

During the first meeting, the objective of this first Working Groups meetings is to identify goals, needs, and opportunities that may lead to a resilient Puerto Rico.
YOUTH PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY DISCUSSION
February 19 – 23, 2018
Following the Youth Participatory Photography launch, the engagement team will hold a forum discussion and photo exhibit during which participating students will be able to share their stories about their photographs along with their parents.
COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUP MEETINGS
February 24 – March 4, 2018
There will be 7 Community Focus Group Meetings throughout the island. The objective of these meetings is to efficiently understand recovery, resilience, and engagement issues and opportunities from a diversity of perspectives, including youth, seniors, social service providers, recovery workers, educators, among others.
PUBLIC SECTOR ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
February 28, 2018
Meeting between the Commission and the PR Government’s lead representatives to exchange information on the Government’s public policies and efforts related to the recovery and rebuilding of Puerto Rico. This group shall provide input on resilience opportunities on behalf of the public-sector entities represented.
WORKING GROUPS MEETING #2 (RESILIENCE LENS)
March 13-15, 2018
Feeding from the recommendations and input provided by community engagement activities, Working Group members will work to refine opportunities through a resilience lens.
WORKING GROUPS MEETING #3 (DRAFT RECOMMENDATIONS)
April 10-12, 2018
As the final Working Groups session, these discussions will mostly focus on final recommendations that may inform the final report.
“REPORT BACK” TOWN HALL COMMUNITY MEETINGS
April 28 – May 6, 2018
During these meetings, the Commission will share with communities how their input informed the recommendations. Additionally, communities will be presented with next steps for rebuilding, recovery, and resilience, and the associated citizen participation.
RPRAC REPORT LAUNCH

The RPRAC Report will offer recommendations that will serve to guide a process that leads towards a full recovery that also strengthens our ability to consistently face any natural or socioeconomic impacts in the future.
